This course is mainly designed for students after 10th grade and above. The duration of the course is one year, and it is offered by a The Tamil Nadu Dr. J Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University. There is no need to have prior knowledge of drawing and painting to enter this course, as it allows all students to start from scratch. The course covers fundamental drawing techniques, step-by-step instruction, perspective, light and shadow, anatomy, portraits, and various painting mediums such as acrylic colours, watercolours, and oil painting.
By undertaking this course, students will receive training in realistic drawing and painting, enabling them to create art both from observation and their imagination. Moreover, upon completing this course and a two-year Advanced Certificate course, alongside the completion of any other degree they may pursue concurrently, they will be considered equivalent to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree and will be eligible to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.
Drawing: Fundamental Drawing, Freehand Drawing, Perspective Drawing, Anatomy (Human, Birds & Animals), Still Life Drawing, Portrait Drawing and Outdoor Drawing.
Painting: Watercolor, Acrylic Painting, Oil Painting, Portrait, Still Life and Outdoor Painting.
Theory: Elements of arts, Texture in arts, Colour schemes, Light & shadow, Dimensions of arts, Perspectives and Line variations.
Eligibility: 10th Std. pass and above (No age limit)

"Dessin Academy, OMR Thazhambur branch was inaugurated on June 2022; the branch is successfully training young children and providing courses from fundamentals to advanced levels. The branch is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 06:30 pm to 07:30 pm.
The branch provides Exhibition training and competition training and also gives one-on-one training for both National and International Students via offline and online classes."
Mrs P Mahalakshmi holds an M.Phil in Corporate Secretaryship a diploma in Painting and is a native of Chennai. She has served as a lecturer in a few pvt. Colleges for more than 5 years. She has always been keen and passionate towards teaching when came across Kalai Valarmani Artist DR R Rajendran MFA, founder of "Dessin Academy" and was captivated by his way of teaching Arts and painting. She started her career as an Art teacher at Dessin Academy in 2014. She runs 2 branches one in OMR and another in Thalambur. Online and offline classes are conducted for National and International children, from the basics to the advanced level. Many of her students have participated in competitions and won numerous awards. Under her guidance, her daughter U. Malvika, a Psychologist and a Diploma holder in Arts is also guiding advanced batches, who have won many State-level competitions and participated in national-level competitions.
